The panel is lipped over the frame to prevent moisture from being able to enter the box in any way. The underside of the lid is molded using a shop-made molding plane. |

The entire chest was made from one 10'x 15" x 2" Oak board taken from a 150 year old barn. The dovetailed case was re-sawn and grain matched all the way around. The brilliant colors are result of natural ammonia fuming from the animals who lived in the barn. |

The ogee feet are joined with a splined mitre for durability and a long life. The chest can safely hold up to 250 pounds. |
The Hope Chest is made of reclaimed barn Oak. It is finished with boiled linseed oil and a hot parrafin wax application.
